Nothing Profound

August 1, 2008 · 2 Comments

So, I went to San Diego on Tuesday to visit family, get a haircut, move boxes, and have dinner with some friends. Looking for a job is pregnant with anxiety. As it stands I am looking for a part time job that will accommodate my financial needs and work around an internship that I will be doing with a hospice care provider. I think an unnamed Seattle based coffee provider will give me a job and meet these needs.

I have also been extremely been disappointed with some news about a former congregation and how they are treating some friends of mine. I am not going to say much, but know that it has to do with the congregation “protecting” its theology and authority structure.

Finally, here are some books I plan on reading in the next few months:

Jesus by Marcus Borg

Christianity for the rest of us by Diana Butler Bass

a biography on William James (I forget the author and exact name)

a biography on Martin Luther (Again I don’t have the info in front of me)

Five Years!!!!!

May 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Today Enrique and I have been married five years.

The plan today is for me to go to work. Tonight Riley, Enrique’s sister, will watch Sebastian while we go eat at the Arroyo Chop House. It is expensive and great great food.

So, I get to be a voting member for my church at the synod assembly. Enrique and I are excited to get away for a few days. Also, I am taking a psych test for candidacy and going to San Diego for a baptism. It’s going to be busy. Pray everything goes well.

Why “The Student”

April 11, 2008 · 1 Comment

I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t in school. I have been a perpetual student all of my life. Through school I have realized a few things. First, in ending my grad school career I’ve realized that I don’t know as much as I thought I did when I first began. Second, I don’t know as much as I would like. Third, I will never know as much as I want to.

So why then a new blog? Well, I will, no matter where I end up in life I will always consider myself a student. I learn, so I exist. Also, I read so many blogs that I feel left out. Ok, not really. I do, however, like the blogging community checking blogs of friends frequently. The main reason though I am starting a blog is so that I can process, in the public eye, things that I am thinking about. And you can keep tabs on my life.

Enough for now.
