May Wine Review (Even though it is June)

Silver Oak

Cabernet Sauvingon

2003

Price: $65.00

A friend of mine, Dan, is my wine expert. If I need a good $10 bottle he will tell me what to buy. If I need a good $100.00 bottle he is also the guy. It is good to have a friend like him. So, Enrique and I celebrated our fifth anniversary and Dan bought us this bottle to celebrate. When he gave us this bottle he said, “this wine is ready to drink, don’t let it sit through the summer.” Well we didn’t. It ended up that he and his wife had dinner with us when we opened this lovely delight.

Review: This wine is everything I could ask for in a wine. The best description I could give is “mature.” It tasted like a blend of rich berries with a nice finish. No acidity at all. When I drank it I couldn’t swallow it immediately because it was so good. I had to let it sit for a fews seconds. It was a full bodied wine (It did not dissipate from the tongue very easily). The aftertaste was a delight. I was shocked when the bottle was finished and thought that I could drink this stuff all night. I am still thinking about how it was perfect.

If you can spend the money pick up this bottle of wine immediately.

April Wine Review

April 18, 2008 · 1 Comment

Year: 2005

It was bought at Ralph’s

Enrique, the marvelous cook that she is, made a Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo last night. As we sat down she lamented that wine would go perfect with this meal. She had forgotten that my dad had bought us this bottle along with a host of groceries when he was in town last weekend. The excitement on her face grew as I told her about the forgotten wine.

After pouring the wine I immediately took a drink swirling it around on my tongue. Enrique took a long deep breath through her nostrils to get its full aroma.

We noticed that the wine had a deep fruity aroma. It was a light bodied wine meaning when it was on the tongue it was easily dissipate to other areas of the mouth. The acidity was very low, something I like very much in wines, making the wine want to stay in my mouth longer than one that bites at my tongue. It had a very subtle taste and a slight alcohol after taste.

I would highly recommend it.

Let me know what you think if you buy one.
